Presents Berlin Pillar Of Art 2009 at HOF 96

19th February 2009

On 19 TH February, from 18H30-22H30, ArtBahn are launching their first public art exhibition in Berlin, at HOF 96 gallery, 96 TorStrasse, 10119 Berlin.

For their first exhibition, ArtBahn will be exhibiting on the iconic advertising pillars scattered throughout the Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg districts of Berlin, the hub of a new and internationally renowned gallery scene

“AN ONGOING PROJECT TO TRANSFORM PUBLIC SPACE INTO ART AND DESIGN EXHIBITIONS”. Through Artbahn, artists, designers and galleries gain the kind of widespread exposure usually reserved for commercial enterprise.

ArtBahn is an offshoot of Art Below, a London-based organisation that has for the past three years exhibited the work of over three hundred artists in highly sought-after locations in London, Tokyo and shortly in Paris. This launch intends to mark the start of a series of public art campaigns in Berlin.

"Ilaria Soncini

graduated from the Accademy of Arts of Brera, Milan, in 2007. Since 2007 in Berlin. She started to created hats, and to investigated with a friend-photographer Sofia the questioning of the status of the womens.

Inspired by baroque everydaylife objects and materials, she devote herself to costums. The sceneries in which her creations are presented play an important part of her work, as surreal pictural visions. Tha artist mixes elements of classical painting and renaissance atmosphere with theatrical settings-graceful poses, sophistication of the accessories, fantasy of the surrounds etc...using different types of objects (lamps, buttons, feathers) textiles and patterns, Ilaria gives birth to her accessories and environments as if they were alive and turns the character who wears them (or interacts with them) into an almost inanimated object or better, still life. The topic of the role and place of women is also a key to understand her practice, where female protagonists become almost antique statues, pieces of decoration or even birds..."

Die Geschichte kennt den Bartmann unter vielen Namen. Heinrich Dubel beleuchtet diese Geschichte unter dem Aspekt eines Bartes, der zum Synonym für das Böse schlechthin geworden ist. Darüberhinaus berichtet er von seinen Erfahrungen mit einer Subkultur, welche sich der Verherrlichung des sekundären männlichen Geschlechtsmerkmals widmet: der organisierten deutschen Bartbewegung.
